Risk assessment
A risk assessment must be carried out for every activity carried out and for every workplace in maintenance in order to ensure the safety and health of all employees and to prevent damage to equipment that could endanger employees or, if this is not possible, to minimize it as far as possible. The results of the risk assessment must be verifiably recorded.
The risk assessment should be carried out by an expert safety engineer.
Such a risk assessment is specified in numerous regulations such as the:
- For the home office
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (§ 5 ArbSchG),
- the Workplace Ordinance (§ 3 ArbStättV),
- the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (§ 6 GefStoffV),
- the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (§ 3 BetrSichV)
- the Biological Substances Ordinance (§4 BioStoffV)
- the Noise and Vibration Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance (§ 3 LärmVibrationsArbSchV)
- the Load Handling Ordinance (§ 2 LasthandhabV) and the
- Maternity Protection Act (§ 10 MuSchG) and the basis of almost all company safety measures.
Depending on the hazards, there are various technical guidelines that are binding here:
- ASR V3 - General requirements
- TRBA 400 - for biological hazards
- TRBS 1111 - safety assessment
- TRGS 800 - for work involving fire hazards
- TRGS 400 - for handling chemicals and hazardous substances
